BeebleBerry

It's been so long since I blogged about anything. I have been so engrossed in learning and testing and fiddling, that I've really neglected my little blogspot. I guess not really having time to promote it much, and knowing that there aren't that many people reading here doesn't really help much with the motivation.

But what is different today? Why have I made it back to the blogosphere? Well, umm... It's all about links and promotion, and today I have launched BeebleBerry.com - my web consultancy site. It's still a bit of a work in progress, but the layout and pages are done. All that will change is the addition of some graphics - not too many, and of course, I'll add more articles of interest as I go along.

I know that when I advertise my SEO services the first thing anyone is going to do, is check how well my site is doing - so, I decided to get a head start by building up some page ranking in the meantime. And that means getting links to my site. And so, this post is about me starting that linking process and ultimately getting traffic.

Wish me Luck! :)

Netted Webs!

My next website is up and running. I am very excited about this particular project because it is something I am passionate about – internet scams! Let me rephrase that, I am passionate about PEOPLE reaching their dreams, and I hate to see anyone scammed along the way!

I get enraged at the number of websites out there promising a quick buck or two, or one-thousand.

It’s like one ugly chain letter doing its rounds in cyberspace, perpetuating a myth that making money online is easy and can be done without any effort. And that to make money you need to be part of some special, “big boys” club secret.

Yes, it is very possible to make money online, and of course, the very nature of the web means that you literally do have the world at your finger tips – so the opportunities are HUGE! But do you really want to place adverts all over the place, promising astronomical rewards, when you, yourself, aren’t making those astronomical sums anyhow?

By the way, just don’t believe all the copies of those earnings statements that get flashed at you – anything is possible in Photoshop!

I really believe that you should only pay for tangible services, such as webhosting, web design, software, advertising, and possibly SEO services. (I say possibly, because there is a lot of information about this online already and there are many undeliverable promises made by some so called SEO specialists).

If you’re really serious about starting a sustainable online business, you should be prepared to invest some money along the way, but please invest wisely!

Okay – now that I have had my mini rant, let me get back to my website.

I might start posting some website statistics – I’ll give it some thought – I really don’t want to bore anyone! :-)

Two Websites and a Wedding...

My last post was all about procrastination, and I have to giggle to myself at the irony of it. I’m sure that everyone thought I had reached Procrastination Highland – no chance of that!

As the title suggests – I have been busy with two websites and a wedding!

My daughter got married on 7 February. The wedding was out of town, in the arty, scenic, sleepy town of Clarens, in the Free State. What a wondrous, special day the wedding was, and what an awesome long weekend we had away.

Seeing one of my eldest daughter’s dreams come to fruition, and gaining a son, was one of the best experiences of my life! Added to that, my youngest daughter was the Maid of Honour. The beauty of my daughters as they walked down the aisle, and the emotional response I experienced was beyond anything I ever imagined. I feel very blessed!

Amidst the bachelorette party and the wedding plans, I did manage to finalise my first website – Alberton Online is fully up and running. I do need to get more businesses listed. The marketing of the site to businesses has begun!

Once I have a decent amount of businesses listed I will begin marketing to the public. I am also in the process of writing more articles to give the site some substance. I want the place to be more than just listing businesses – I want it to evolve into a community helping each other and working together.

It will take some time though, and considering it is very localised, it’s never going to be a mega website!

My other project – more of an experimental, fun project is Top 20 Feeds.

I only got the site towards the end of January and I’ve already had over 300 visits.

I’ve spent the morning tweaking my google ad placements as I haven’t had many google ad clicks! And of course, I need these to help maintain the site costs! I’m getting there though!
